Flamenco costumes were mainly first introduced at Andalucía of south Spain. Basically, it is difficult to define flamenco. It can be described as a special style of dance and guitar music. According to many aspects, flamenco has about 50 styles to perform. It is most popular in many cultures like Islamic, Andalucía, Gypsy and Andalucía. Flamenco costumes are those costume used by male or female during dancing with flamenco music.

The dresses were first designed to expose a woman’s figure. The main form of these dresses is a guitar shaped body and low neck. A round or square neck with a hair pulled back in a bun made the dancer’s neck looking thinner. The dresses are widened at the hip area and narrow at the waist. But, now a day there are many designs available of Flamenco costumes. All are made to facilitate the movement of a flamenco dancer and in an intention of better look.

For females flamenco costumes are specially designed for performing flamenco dance with rhythmic flamenco music. These dresses facilitate to take necessary dance steps easily. The most important element of this dress is the bata de cola, that is mainly 10 pounds weighted long skirt and with 5 feet trail behind the dance performer. It is full of colorful ruffles and flowing. There is a v-pattern shawl which is colorful and fringed called by mantan use to be tied at the surrounding of the waist. This is use to decorate the rest parts of the dress by color. The dresses are mainly designed by following colorful gypsy style. Silk type cloths are used to made shawl.

For men the main part of a flamenco costume is a tight fitting black pant and shirt with a short vest or jacket. According to the style, men flamenco dancers also use straw hats.
Flamenco costumes which are used by female dancers contains a bata de cola ruffles during dancing according to rhythm of flamenco music. This ruffle makes the bata de cola lifted and shaken according to music and foot steps to highlight the music.

For enhancing the sound of the music for tap dancing flamenco dancers use special types of shoe. Normal kind of flamenco shoes have nails driven inside the shoe soles on the toe. Both female and male dancers use this kind of shoes called taconeo or zapateado.
As a hand accessory, flamenco dancers use palillos. These palilloses are made of two pieces of wood and tied to the dancer’s thumb with string. This is mainly a percussion instrument. This creates a clicking sound when male flamenco dancers shake them by their palms.

Though flamenco costumes were first used in a specific region, now a day it is very popular. As flamenco music is very popular for any kind of celebration occasion. For performing the flamenco dancing nicely and smoothly, Flamenco costumes are essential for dancers. It may be said that without well performed dancer flamenco music is incomplete, and thus with proper Flamenco costumes flamenco dance is also useless.
